Sustainable energy – without the hot air

This book (available for free in PDF format) should be compulsory reading for every adult in the UK.

In the UK our society is built on an unsustainable foundation. We extract fossil fuels from the Earth in the form of oil, coal and gas that took around two billion years to create. Since the start of the industrial revolution, the use of fossil fuels has increased exponentially along with global population. We use an unsustainable energy source to grow food, for processing, transportation, heating, entertainment, everything! One day it will run out.

Is it a good idea to use two billion years worth of energy resources in three or four hundred years for food, heating and entertainment? Perhaps we should save some for exploring the rest of the universe?

Is it even possible to live sustainably without having to resort to dwelling in damp caves, playing ‘knuckles’ and reading books hand copied by monks by candlelight? Read the book to find out!

flattr this!
